This is the Stolen Bike Listing of BikingToronto.

Currently, it pulls stolen bike postings from Craigslist to increase attention on what's been stolen in our city. Perhaps with enough exposure of what has been stolen, some of these missing bicycles can be re-united with their rightful owners.

Keep up to date with this list with the as-it-happens Stolen Bike RSS Feed - accessible now through the more popular RSS Readers:

If you are trying to prevent your bike from being stolen, there are things you can do to make your bike less attractive to thieves (and you can learn more from the City of Toronto and the Toronto Police Service):
  • Register your bicycle with the police
(online at www.torontopolice.on.ca/bike or by phone at 416-808-2222)
  • Use a good quality locking device such as a hardened steel "U" shaped lock, or a hardened steel chain and padlock
  • Lock your bicycle and both wheels to an immovable object which cannot be easily cut or broken
  • Look for a busy, well-lit place to lock up.
If your bike has recently been stolen, you are welcome to post all the relevant details for BikingToronto to get the word out about it. Someone may see the thief riding your bike around Toronto and alert the authorities. In your post be sure and include important information like:
  • Make
  • Model
  • Colour
  • General Description (especially any unique characteristics)
  • Date of Theft
  • Location of Theft (intersection or specific address)
  • City (if somewhere in the GTA other than Toronto)
  • Attaching a photo of your bike (if you have one) would be very useful too!
You should, of course, always report a stolen bicycle to police - even if your bicycle wasn't registered. If there are numerous thefts in an area the police can take action.

If you're not a victim of bike theft, you can discuss theft prevention tips and tricks too!
